DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY

DAY 1 – SOUTH COAST → UDAWALAWE SAFARI → ELLA

Your journey begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Kosgoda, Ahungalla, Bentota, or Induruwa. The drive inland takes you through rural villages, reservoirs, and dry-zone landscapes.

Udawalawe National Park Safari

Upon arrival near Udawalawe National Park, you will transfer to a 4×4 safari jeep with an experienced local tracker. Udawalawe is known for its open grasslands, making it one of the best parks in Sri Lanka for elephant sightings.

During the safari, you may see:

• Large herds of elephants
• Water buffalo
• Spotted deer and sambar deer
• Crocodiles near water bodies
• Eagles, peacocks, and other bird species

The safari typically lasts around 3–4 hours.

Elephant Transit Home (Optional)

After the safari, you may visit the Elephant Transit Home, where orphaned elephant calves are cared for before being released back into the wild. Visitors can observe feeding times based on the daily schedule.

Drive to Ella

In the afternoon, continue your journey towards Ella. The drive gradually climbs into the hill country, offering cooler temperatures and beautiful scenery along the way.

Overnight Stay in Ella

Check in to your hotel in Ella and enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by misty mountains and fresh air.

DAY 2 – ELLA SIGHTSEEING → RETURN TO SOUTH COAST

Ella is one of Sri Lanka’s most loved hill country destinations, known for its relaxed atmosphere and stunning viewpoints.

Nine Arch Bridge

Visit the iconic Nine Arch Bridge, one of the most photographed landmarks in Sri Lanka. The bridge is surrounded by lush greenery and tea plantations.

Ravana Waterfall

Stop at Ravana Waterfall, a powerful and scenic waterfall located just outside Ella town. It is one of the widest waterfalls in Sri Lanka.

Ella Viewpoints and Town Walk

Depending on time and interest, enjoy:

• Short walks around Ella town
• Scenic viewpoints overlooking valleys and tea estates
• Time for coffee or shopping

Lunch Break (Optional)

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Ella. Lunch is not included, allowing flexibility.

Return Journey to the South Coast

In the afternoon, begin the return journey to the southern coast. You will arrive back at your hotel in Kosgoda, Ahungalla, Bentota, or Induruwa by late evening.
