DETAILED ITINERARY

Early Morning – Pick-up from Your Hotel

Your day begins with an early morning private pick-up from your hotel in Kosgoda, Ahungalla, Bentota, or Induruwa. An early start is essential to reach the Cultural Triangle on time and to climb Sigiriya before the midday heat.

As you travel inland, you will experience a change in landscape from coastal scenery to rural villages, lakes, and open plains.

Dambulla Cave Temple – Golden Rock Temple

The first main stop is the Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Rock Temple. This sacred site consists of a series of caves filled with ancient Buddha statues and wall paintings that date back more than 2,000 years.

During your visit, you will:

• Walk up to the cave complex
• Explore multiple cave shrines
• See ancient murals and Buddha images
• Learn about Sri Lanka’s Buddhist heritage

Visitors are required to dress modestly and remove shoes before entering the temple.

Drive to Sigiriya

Sigiriya Rock Fortress
